Using a combination of Mk2 and Mk3 channels, this desk was assembled by Abbey Road engineers from two eight-track consoles to produce a 28 input, 16 track console with 4-channel surround monitoring. The monitor section, far left, uses two control room monitor cassettes, one for each of the two pairs of monitor speakers. The custom built steel tubular frame can be quickly separated into four sections for transport, each section being small enough to fit through a standard door opening.
