Abbey Road Studio 1, 1974
The first Mk4 Console remained in Studio 3 at Abbey Road until late 1974, when it was moved, complete with patchbay, to Studio 1. At this time, classical recording was in the doldrums, and Abbey Road entered a partnership with Anvil Screensound, to bring film soundtrack recording to Studio 1. The larger console was essential to accommodate the large orchestras frequently used in film scoring. Some of the movies recorded with this console include the first Indiana Jones film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" , "Superman" and the orchestral score for the Pink Floyd film of "The Wall."
